An analysis of the JEE Main 2024 exam revealed that the first day's BTech, BE paper was'moderate' in terms of overall difficulty. View frequently asked questions and section-by-section difficulties here.
JEE Main 2024: The first day of the January 2024 session saw the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main) Btech, BE paper, which featured a moderately difficult mathematics section, an easy physics section, and an easy to moderately difficult chemistry section. The JEE Main day one exam was administered for a total of 300 marks and took place in two shifts: from 9 am to 12 noon and from 3 pm to 6 pm. The students' appraisal of the paper 1 questions indicated that they were "moderate" in both sessions.
Students said that the JEE Main 2024 BTech paper included questions at a balanced level. Aditya Nigam, who took the session 2 exam from a Meerut centre, told IndianExpress.com that maths had a higher difficulty level than physics and chemistry. A total of five questions were difficult, which could have an impact on the percentage.
In the meantime, FIITJEE Noida Head Ramesh Batlish stated that, in terms of difficulty, "physics was easy overall, while mathematics was moderate." Ajay Sharma, national academic director for engineering at Aakash BYJU'S, was another expert who stated that the first shift exam's chemistry was the easiest to complete, physics was a little easier, and mathematics took a long time.
Exam analysis in detail for JEE Main 2024
Three courses were included in the January 2024 JEE Main BTech paper: mathematics, chemistry, and physics. There are two portions for each subject: 1 and 2. Section 2 consisted of 10 numerical-based questions, of which only five had to be answered, in contrast to Section 1's 20 multiple-choice questions with only one right answer. Most students thought the numerically oriented problems in both sessions were simple.
According to a FIITJEE expert, pupils thought that Class 12 chapters were given more weight when a few fact-based questions from NCERT's Class 12 chapters were posed during the first shift.
Nonetheless, the Aakash-BYJU'S expert stated that ordinary students found mathematics challenging, based on a fair analysis of the entire shift 1 paper.
Students believed that the NTA had altered shift 2's difficulty level from that of shift 1's questions. Exam difficulty for the evening shift was deemed to be slightly higher. Students gave the exam for the second shift a mediocre rating. Ajay Sharma stated, "In this paper, chemistry was on the easier side and physics was on the moderate to difficult level."
JEE Main 2024: Physics paper analysis
Experts state that during the morning shift, the Physics portion of JEE Main 2024 was easy to moderate in difficulty. In response to inquiries from mechanics, the paper adequately described contemporary electricity. The expert noted that the majority of the questions came from the Class 11 syllabus and included questions from prior years.
The morning shift included inquiries about electrostat potential, current electricity, and momentum conservation, according to a study provided by Motion Education's founder and CEO, Nitin Viijay.
JEE Main 2024: Analysis of Chemistry Paper
The Motion Education expert stated that during the first shift of the JEE Main 2024 exam on day 1, questions pertaining to atomic structure and magnetic moment were included in the Chemistry exam. Before taking the exam, review the periodic table, integer-type questions, thermochemistry, and kinetics. It is advised that JEE Main candidates who are still eligible take the exam in January 2024.
According to Aakash BYJU'S analysis, the chemistry paper from shift one was mostly based on NCERT texts. The majority of the inquiries were hypothetical. A handful of the questions were unclear since they relied on information from recollection.
Aldehyde, ketone, and carboxylic acids, alcohol, phenol, and ethers, thermodynamics, and chemical kinetics were among the well-known chapters that were questioned. It further said that throughout the morning shift, there was consistent coverage of all the chapters.
Day 1 of the JEE Main 2024 Exam Analysis: Mathematics
According to student feedback, the mathematics paper for the morning shift was moderate to challenging, according to an analysis of Aakash-BYJU's. There were questions on determinants, 2-D matrices, complex numbers, and calculus in the paper. Calculus and 2D were the paper's main themes. It further mentioned that almost all the subjects were covered.
"There was a noticeable increase in difficulty in the mathematics section of the exam compared to the previous year." According to the Motion Education analysis, this shows that students aiming for top performance would benefit from giving priority to subjects like probability and combinatorics, statistics, and derivations.
